7 Top Land Auction Sites and Alternatives

Part 1: Premium Sponsors

  1. www.ebay.com

Whether you’re looking to develop land further or settle on it, purchasing land in an auction is an undeniably smart investment.

If you’re looking to purchase, check out eBay first! The online auction marketplace is a great starting. Simply type in ‘land auction eBay’ in a search engine, and you’ll see that eBay offers properties within the US and internationally. While the prices of most of these properties are standard (quite expensive), the auction format can allow for price drops that you might not normally see when purchasing the land at a flat price. For example, a 70 x 120’ residential building lot in California City, CA is currently being auctioned off at $500. Since eBay has a wide variety of properties and locations, we definitely recommend starting at this site. Just be wary of your seller, of course!

  2. GovernmentAuction.com

GovernmentAuction.com is a popular site for land auction.

  3. www.landwatch.com

Landwatch is the ultimate site if you’re considering purchasing or developing land – this site is chockfull of information, resources, and of course – land auctions! To get started, visit www.landwatch.com. Then, select the ‘Auctions’ tab on the homepage. You can narrow your search for the perfect plot by the options on the side, with which you can search by price, parcel size, type (condo, homestyle, agricultural ranch, etc). The site also provides very detailed information sections about each plot and what comes with it, which is a plus (and also sometimes a rarity) compared to other auction sites. The only downside to browsing on Landwatch is that the auctions are held wherever the plot is – so you have to be willing to travel to your desired land plot. Otherwise, we think this is a great site to check out, especially if you’re a seasoned land developer.

Part 2: More Popular Land Auction Sites

  1. www.landbidz.com

If you’re looking to purchase land, try visit Landbidz! Landbidz is an online property auction marketplace, and here you can find beautiful, expansive lands for less. To see what’s available on Landbidz, visit the site and select the state in which you’re looking to buy land. Currently, Landbidz has properties in Arizona, Colorado, California, Georgia, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Texas, as well as land on terms. The prices on Landbidz are extremely low, with the site offering Midwestern ranch acres for as low as $1, 875. What’s great about Landbidz is the purchashing options it offers – you can purchase lands for a flat price, or auction your desired amount. And, with certain properties, you can pay in installments (like $170 per month). While the site lacks some organization, it’s definitely worth checking out for its variety and prices. Visit Landbidz today to get started!

  2. www.auction.com

Whether you’re a first-time land buyer or a seasoned developer, Auction.com offers organization and expertise for your land search. To get started, visit www.auction.com and select either ‘Land’ Assets options tab or select a state from the interactive map. Auction.com neatly lists all their properties with both descriptions and pictures, and the site offers a considerable variety of properties, big and small. Currently, there are about 19 land auctions for the month of September, and the site’s prices are impressively well-priced (many lots below $10,000). Auction.com, compared to other sites, offers lots of information about their properties. We definitely recommend checking out this site, as it seems to be a trusted online land marketplace. Visit www.auction.com today!

  3. www.landsofamerica.com

Looking to acquire some property for your enjoyment or an investment? Check out Lands of America! Lands of America is the #1 Rural Online Marketplace, and we can guarantee you’ll find something that fits your lifestyle. To get searching, visit the site and click on the red ‘Auctions’ tab. You can search for properties by state, month of auction, and price. Each land auctioned has an extensive information section as well as a mortage calculator. Most lands being auctioned this month are in the Midwest. If you’re looking for properties elsewhere, you may want o try another site first. In addition, while you can contact the company for more information on a certain property, you cannot bid online. (You must bid in person where the property is being auctioned; the company headquarters is in Austin, Texas). Keep this in mind while browsing Lands of America!

  4. www.bid4assets.com

If you’re looking to purchase a piece of land, check out Bid 4 Assets! Bid 4 Assets, an online auction place that offers asset auctions including cars & vehicles, estates, and jewelry, is a great place to look. Simply visit www.bid4assets.com and click on the ‘$1 reserve land’ tab. Currently, Bid 4 Assets has about 20 current auctions on properties throughout the US –including beach, mountain, and valley terrain. And the starting bid prices (and current prices, as well) on Bid 4 Assets are extremely cheap! 10 Texas Acres is currently auctioning off at just $605. This site is easy to use and works just like any other auction site. We definitely recommend taking a look around. If you’re looking for a site with a lot of current auctions, you might want to skip this site. But otherwise, Bid 4 Assets is a great pick!
